Where everyone ends up
Galveston County has a single county jail, and it is where nearly every local arrest is booked. The courts sit a block away at the Justice Center. These are the two buildings families end up dealing with.

The city agency. GPD officers patrol and make arrests inside Galveston city limits. Its public office is the Joe Max Taylor Law Enforcement Building at 601 54th Street, Galveston, TX 77551.
GPD does not operate a jail of its own, so the people it arrests are booked into the county jail.
The county agency. It covers unincorporated areas and countywide duties, and it operates the Galveston County Jail at 5700 Ball Street, Galveston, TX 77551.
Booking, custody records, and the physical release are handled on the jail's side, not by any bonding company.
This is the part that confuses most families: it does not much matter which agency made the arrest. City police, sheriff's deputies, constables, and most other local agencies all deliver to the same county jail.
So you can stop calling around. One jail, one inmate search, one place to post the bond.
Warrants
We run free, confidential warrant checks. If something is outstanding, handling it on your own schedule — with a bond already lined up — is almost always better than being picked up at work or on a traffic stop.
We work with Galveston Police Department and Galveston County Sheriff's Office procedures every day and deal with the jail on bond paperwork around the clock. Where possible we get the bond lined up in advance, so the wait after you turn yourself in is as short as the jail allows.
This trips people up constantly, because Harris County does. In Harris County a walk-through can often be arranged and processed in a single visit.
Galveston County does not run that program. Here the path is: surrender or get booked, see a magistrate, the bond is set, then the bond is posted and release follows. Anyone promising a walk-through in Galveston County is describing the wrong county.
